General Description:

Ensures stable operation of the Authority infrastructure  environment from the internet to Endpoint and vice versa. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network devices, software, and communication links. Also, analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems in connectivity issues in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training when required.

 

Principal Duties:

  • Designs network architectures and performs capacity planning.
  • Collaborates with vendors, service providers, and contractors to obtain network products and services.
  • Researches network technologies, products, services, protocols, and standards to support procurement and development initiatives.
  • Configures and manages virtual and physical servers, including Exchange Online (O365), file, print, monitoring, and backup servers, along with their operating systems and related software.
  • Administers and maintains virtual environments (VSpere)
  • Configures, manages, and administers VMware Workspace ONE with UEM.
  • Demonstrates intermediate-level knowledge of cloud-based computing environments.
  • Configures and manages network infrastructure hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, DNS/DHCP appliances, hubs, and UPS devices.
  • Ensures network connectivity for all workstations, including patching within IDF and MDF locations.
  • Implements and administers software updates for infrastructure devices, and manages equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Administers and maintains end user accounts, permissions, and access rights using Microsoft Windows or Azure Active Directory.
  • Performs system backup and recovery for virtual machines using third party cloud solutions or VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM).
  • Configures and administers VMware NSX for network virtualization and security.
  • Configures and supports WLAN environments (Cisco wireless preferred).
  • Recommends, schedules, and executes network enhancements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Provides guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Performs related work as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN) topologies.
  • Intermediate-level experience with routing, switching, wireless access points, and firewall administration, including VPN configuration (preferably within Cisco environments and with WatchGuard firewalls).
  • Broad proficiency with multiple operating systems, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
  • Solid working knowledge of modern network hardware, protocols, and industry standards.
  • Hands-on experience with virtual environments such as VMware, Horizon View, Workspace ONE, and related technologies.
  • Understanding of cloud-based computing environments and concepts.
  • Knowledge of Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 networking principles.
  • Intermediate experience managing DNS and DHCP services (Infoblox preferred).
  • Proficient with network monitoring tools and platforms.

Minimum Acceptable Training, Experience, and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • 5–7 years of relevant professional experience.
  • College diploma or university degree in computer science, or an equivalent combination of education and at least five years of related work experience.
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator/Engineer, VMware certifications, and/or Cisco certifications are highly desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware infrastructure troubleshooting.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered.

Working Hours:  Monday through Friday during normal business hours and as required
