Job Description:

HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST:  Under the supervision of the Senior HR Officer, the HR Generalist, or Human Resource Generalist, is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department. Their duties include handling all benefits for the company, comparing HR laws to current policies and procedures, drafting templates for HR documents, and working with other members of the department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for company employees.

  • BA in human resources, business administration or related field of study plus three (3) years of experience in the human resources field or eight (8) years of direct work experience.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of benefit plan designs and administration.
  • Responsible for performing human resources related duties on a professional level. Experience and knowledge of personnel ordinances, rules, and regulations.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits, compensation, risk management, and safety practices.
  • Considerable knowledge of modern policies and practices in human resources administration and personnel law.
  • Maintain an effective rapport with the public and staff.

JOB CHARACTERISTICS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This is a non-exempt position.  The employee must have strong organizational and communication skills, as well as judgment, tact, and diplomacy in contacts with YDI employees, community residents, parents, and local government agencies. Strict adherence is required to all regulations concerning confidentiality, including HIPPA requirements. Background check to include fingerprinting will be required. A physical is required upon hire and may be required intermittently. Travel may also be required. Proof of satisfactory car insurance must be provided.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (NOT INCLUSIVE):

  • This position plans, designs, evaluates, and administers all benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, short- & long-term disability, 401K, FMLA, workers’ comp, etc.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to leave; performance and talent management; productivity, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Leads all aspects of new hire orientation, as well as the annual open enrollment process, including coordinating resources to prepare employee communication materials.
  • Works collaboratively with payroll to reconcile invoices and ensure benefit payments, deductions and contributions are processed timely and accurately.
  • Perform ongoing benefit program analyses of plan design, participation, cost-effectiveness, and ROI to determine potential future revisions or enhancements.
  • Keeps abreast of applicable laws and ensures regulatory compliance. Assists with company policy creation, maintenance, enforcement, and education to employees.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, educational leave, and work assessments. This may include CPR, first aid, safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Reviews employee separation notices and related documentation and ensures exit interviews are conducted to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Other duties as assigned.
