POSITION SUMMARY:
WC Smith is a Washington, DC-based multidisciplinary real estate firm. The company has provided integrated real estate services to the Washington metropolitan area for over four decades. In complement to its development, construction, sales, and financial divisions, the firm owns and/or manages a portfolio in excess of 10,000 units of residential real estate. With a group of subsidiary service companies under the WC Smith umbrella, including but not limited to construction, the firm is able to offer exemplary service to its clients.

We are seeking a Human Resource Intern, to support our growing People (HR) team. Internships are open to undergraduate students who are pursuing degrees in Human Resources.

Our HR Intern will work at our Corporate office, under the supervision of the Vice President of Human Resources and supporting the team. This participant will obtain real-world experience in hiring and staffing, HR compliance, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations and more.

This will require a full-time commitment over an eight-week timeframe beginning in May, working Monday through Friday, 9:00 am- 5:00 pm. Participants will be exposed to interviewing, benefits administration, documentation, and data processing, among other things.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

SPECIFIC DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
Document review and processing
Administrative support
Assistance with Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)
Job shadowing
Phone interviewing
Data quality review
Onboarding support

HR INTERN REQUIREMENTS:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources 
Previous internship or work experience required
Excellent data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Proactive and results-oriented with strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through
Commitment to excellence and high level of integrity; ability to exercise strict confidentiality and sound judgment
Strong client-service focus and ability to build and manage relationships across different levels and functions
