POSITION SUMMARY:

WCS Construction has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Superintendent to join our team for large multi-family high-rise construction projects in the DC Metropolitan area. Superintendents are responsible for managing all field operations on the project to achieve meeting construction schedules and maintain the budget to achieve profitable and successful completion. The Senior Superintendent directly supervises all field staff and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills, as well as strong communication and client service skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Primary contact with owners, architects, and engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project
• Maintain good relationships with internal and external clients, including representatives of Owner, Architect/Engineer, Government personnel, Inspectors, and Project team members
• Direct day-to-day on-site supervision of field labor force including assistants, foremen, subcontractors, and other construction personnel
• Work with Senior Project Manager to estimate and budget projects, monitor costs and review and approve subcontractor payment applications
• Assist with providing technical assistance (review of submittals and contract documents, interpretation of drawings, recommendation of construction methods and equipment, etc.) as required, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection
• Inspect work and subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with the Contract
• Create, review, and update project schedule and look ahead schedules
• Prepare and submit detailed daily reports to document manpower, weather, work completed, and other information as well as accident reports, quality reports, etc.
• Develop, implement, and lead site utilization/logistics plan in coordination with Senior Project Manager and recommend improvements
• Develop and implement Quality Control program and provide inspections
• Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions, trade preparatory meetings, weekly foremen’s meetings, and other project site meetings as necessary.
• Coordinate with project team to ensure all required materials, equipment and inspections support the project schedule.
• Ensure crews have the necessary resources and support to complete the project on-time and on-budget.
• Monitor equipment and material needs and uses for the project on a regular basis.
• Communicate and enforce WCS Construction’s safety policy and demonstrate commitment to safety through own actions and mentoring others.
• Provide training and education to support the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Four-year degree or equivalent combinations of training and experience.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a supervisory role within the construction industry.
• Experience with high-rise concrete mixed-use apartment projects highly desired.
• OSHA, First Aid/CPR certifications and SWPPP training/certification
• Construction industry experience and knowledge including basic terminology, standard forms, contracting and subcontracting procedures, and awareness of construction industry associations
• Advanced proficiency reading and understanding drawings and specifications
• Proficiency with MS Office and other industry construction software and applications
• Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
• Exhibit strong leadership qualities, with the ability to delegate work effectively and make timely decisions
• Work effectively as part of a team and mentor/develop staff
