Flight Surfaces Mechanic

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position Summary:
The Flight Surfaces Component Shop Mechanic is responsible for the inspection, repair, overhaul, and
modification of flight control surfaces and aerodynamic panels such as ailerons, elevators, rudders, spoilers, flaps,
and slats. This role requires strong knowledge of structural repair techniques, composite materials, and strict
adherence to aviation maintenance standards (FAA, EASA, OEM). This position will be based in a Part 145 Repair Shop, requiring compliance with all applicable regulatory and quality standards associated with such a certified maintenance organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Disassemble, inspect, clean, repair, and reassemble flight control surfaces (e.g., ailerons elevators, rudders, flaps, spoilers).
• Evaluate component condition using technical manuals, drawings, and service bulletins.
• Perform non-destructive testing (NDT), corrosion treatment, and surface preparation as required.
• Install and adjust flight surface hardware including hinges, bearings, bushings, and actuators.
• Operate tools and equipment safely and effectively, including hydraulic presses, riveters, precision,
assuring tools, and balancing machines.
• Document all work performed in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Ensure components meet airworthiness requirements and quality control standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and other maintenance personnel as needed.

Required Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in aircraft maintenance preferred.
• FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant (A&P) license strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in aircraft component maintenance or a related field.
• Familiarity with ATA Chapter 57 (Wings) and other related aircraft maintenance chapters.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and OEM manuals.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to pass DOT Drug & Alcohol screening.
• Must be a U.S. Person or Permanent Green Card holder due to ITAR regulations.


Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with composite materials and bonding repairs.
• Proficiency in using digital maintenance systems and documentation software.
• Previous experience in an FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills.
• Must have strong computer skills.
• Excellent prioritization, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills.

Travel:
• Travel may be required

Location:
• Onsite in Glendale, AZ

Language:
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasions.
• Carrying, Walking, Pushing, Climbing, Reaching.

Working Conditions:
• Ability to work in machine shop / component repair environment.
• Momentary exposure to high noises.
• Exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents.
• Personal Protection Equipment will be required for certain tasks.
