Senior Human Resources Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Position Summary: 

The Human Resources Manager is a strategic and tactical human resources partner to leaders and employees.  This role acts as a transformative HR leader, responsible for developing and executing human capital strategies that drive performance excellence while providing executive level advising to internal clients.  The role anticipates future organization and talent requirements based on business, industry, and market conditions.  The position serves as a liaison and partners with various HR center of excellence teams in talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, training and development, and employee relations to deliver transformative and innovative human capital solutions. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead two HR Business Partners. 
  • Lead the benefit and payroll functions (two employees).
  • Act as the strategic and tactical back-up to the SVP of HR.
  • Develop and execute human capital strategies that address the current and future direction of Unical Aviation.
  • Provides support and guidance to members of the HR team and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Deliver strategic business advisory consulting to executive/senior business leaders to foster best in class talent strategies, align talent management practices, workforce effectiveness and/or organizational effectiveness strategies in support of the evolving business.
  • Collaborate with HR centers of excellence to build and drive talent acquisition and retention strategies for unique and high demand roles.
  • Build talent bench strength and succession planning by consulting on selection, onboarding, engagement development, movement, performance assessment, compensation and rewards.
  • Team with leaders to organize optimal structure and human capital requirements; evaluate and adjust personnel based on evolving business needs.
  • Champion change to help employees thrive in a constantly changing environment.  Manage the pace, amount and process of change to ensure effective delivery of business outcomes and sustained change. 
  • Establish and monitor organization and human capital metrics aligned to business strategy and driving business outcomes. 
  • Utilize trend reporting and data, make business recommendations that solve for root cause issues and address short- and long-term business challenges; sponsor new ideas/solutions; take initiative to improve results.
  • Integrate relevant data and information and apply findings to positively impact HR strategies; leverage data, identify ways HR can improve the impact of organization capability of business outcomes.
  • Act as a thought leader/partner, challenging the status quo/current thinking, and demonstrating creative problem solving to positively impact business decisions.
  • Demonstrate Unical Aviation values and develop innovative programs designed to increase employee engagement/retention and organizational success.
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ years HR leadership experience.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment, and comfortable with change and ambiguity. Anticipates and strategically plans for changing business needs.
  • UKG experience required.
  • Experience identifying business opportunities and creating and implementing human capital strategies to address business challenges and/or gaps.
  • Ability to quickly build strong working relationships with multiple partners and to coach and develop all levels within an organization.
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills with business leadership and with members of the HR team
  • Experience gathering data, analyzing issues, identifying core causes and address opportunities related to a diverse and dynamic set of business challenges. 
  • Project and change management skills to respond to short- and long-term business priorities.
  • Impact, influence and drive action and accountability in others.
  • Proactively recognizes risks and utilizes appropriate resources to minimize or mitigate risks.
  • Knowledge of labor law compliance - STATE/FEDERAL, ADA, EEO, FMLA, CFRA, LOA, COBRA, FAA/DOT etc.
  • California labor law experience required.
  • Expected base salary: $140,000.

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field is preferred.
 Travel: Must be able to travel up to10% of the time.

Language: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to sit for long periods and frequently works with a computer.
  • Ability to lift 10lbs.

Working Conditions:  This position works in an office setting and warehouse environment.
