This position is responsible for the validation of software and data changes and newly introduced features that support our insurance processing systems through various types of testing methodologies and tools as appropriate to ensure their successful deployment to production.
Job Responsibilities:
Execute both manual and automated testing and provide well-investigated defect descriptions.
Use tools provided to efficiently and effectively execute test plans.
Use the current testing and requirements systems to follow traceability from the requirements to the test activities and record results of testing activities in the testing system.
Use the current testing management system to report defects and monitor for retesting.
Follow testing methodologies as appropriate for the validation requested.
Prepare test plans that thoroughly and appropriately validate the changes being tested.
First, test to satisfy requirements for the system and additionally, test outside the bounds of the system to close gaps users may encounter.
Use the current requirements capture system to develop test plans based on requirements stored in this system.
Collaborate with development staff during test plan development, testing activities, and defect resolution.
Use the test management system to report metrics on testing activities.
Maintain knowledge of all processing functions in the area for all lines of business.
Maintain knowledge of rules and regulations established by the Texas Department of Insurance and company underwriting guidelines and procedures to apply during testing activities.
Testing the implementation of newly developed system procedures and guidelines.
Collaborate closely with the Actuarial department to analyze rating algorithms and manually input data to verify insurance rates. As well as the knowledge and understanding to compute and verify rates using automated rating tools.
Distribute work and monitor workflow in the assigned area.
Assist in the training and instruction of all employees in the assigned area of Project Management Office regarding testing procedures, strategies and their business domain knowledge.
Audit and evaluate Quality Assurance analysts’ progress and accuracy.
Process and train on detailed assignments such as PPC Rating, Insurance Scoring, Pro-Rates, Non-Rates, out of sequence / prior term processing, use of automated testing and monitoring tools.
Provide support to IT teams regarding test practices, expertise, metrics, and industry norms.
Assist in coordinating the testing plan for a given project/program or asset change; ensuring all required types of testing are covered as appropriate for the effort; for example unit testing, system testing, end-to-end, automated, regression, etc.
Adheres to and contributes to acceptable standards and guidelines for testing.
At least one of the following:
Experience and knowledge in the areas of insurance rating, processing systems, manual rules and general insurance principles.
Good understanding of the needs of members/customers.
Experience in the use of automated tools for testing and tracking progress.
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software required for this job.

Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from the Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
