Job Responsibilities:

*This Project Manager role supports projects and initiatives in the Data Office.

This position is responsible for overseeing projects and enhancements through the respective life cycles to ensure business objectives are achieved. Additionally, this position works with the team to establish and achieve goals, coordinates the activities of cross-functional teams, leads value stream meetings, and communicates with stakeholders regarding project progress, impediments, and priorities with minimal oversight.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

Position Responsibilities:

Manage enhancements and projects related to infrastructure upgrades, technical application development, new business functionality, and software defects.

Plan and manage projects efficiently and effectively.

Address problems through risk and issue management.

Communicate to management impact of risk and issues and present mitigation solutions.

Provide effective implementation of contingency plans.

Use the current project management systems to manage schedules, resources, budgets, risk, and changes.

Manage project schedules and status in project update meetings.

Use the current work management system to open and maintain prioritized work.

Follow project management methodologies as appropriate for project deliverables.

Prepare charters with Business Analyst (BA), System Architect (SA), and required business units to address business request.

Collaborate with Business Analyst (BA), System Architect (SA), and Development staff during enhancement and project cycles.

Use the project management system to report metrics on assigned enhancements and projects.

Maintain and grow knowledge of P&C Insurance industry.

Ability to interpret and synthesize information from different functional business units with little clarification required.

Maintain knowledge of rules and regulations established by the Texas Department of Insurance, company underwriting guidelines, and procedures to apply during project and enhancement life cycles.

Acts as a single point of contact for assigned project and enhancement status and maintain communication with stakeholders.

Facilitate project and value stream meetings.

Communicate and coordinate with vendors as needed.

Participate in a company sponsored insurance related training program as directed.

Comply with the Certified Fleet Operator requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

At least one of the following:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in a computer, technical, or business administration-related field from an accredited school with foundational experience demonstrating skills required.

     

  2. Associate degree in a computer, technical, or business administration related field from an accredited school with proven experience demonstrating skills required.

Previous experience in P&C insurance industry preferred.

Experience with Guidewire P&C Insurance software suite preferred.

Experience leading, motivating, and managing various project team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance.

Good understanding of P&C insurance industry.

Good understanding of the needs of various business units.

Expertise in the use project management tools and methodology.

Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office software required.

Expertise in the use of business/technical analysis methodologies and tools.

Strong organizational skills.

Effectively communicate and work well in cross-functional teams.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Attentive to details.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to effectively work multiple projects.

Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.

Learns quickly when facing new problems, open to change, examines both successes and failures for clues to improvement.

Ability to plan, organize, and complete detailed work independently or in a team environment.

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in an office environment.

Occasional lifting and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.

Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from the Certified Fleet Operator Status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

Occasional long, irregular hours.
