This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the design, installation, and problem resolution for distributed server and NAS/SAN systems to ensure the stable operation of the organization’s computing and storage environment.
Additional responsibilities include the supervision, training, and development of a small team of employees.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Position Responsibilities:
Supervise, train, and develop all assigned personnel. This includes hiring, promoting, and terminating assigned personnel as required.
Coach, mentor, and guide direct reports and team through one-on-one career development plans.
Oversee after-hours problem resolution as required.
Assess personnel through periodic evaluations.
Utilize IT leadership skills, project management methodologies, and agile development methodologies to complete, implement and maintain IT projects within budget and on time.
Recommend policies and procedures to maximize operational efficiency.
Responsible for relevant documentation.
Prepare and deliver presentations to Senior management when requested.
Be familiar with all compliance, regulatory and security requirements of company systems.
Oversee the assignment, management, and resolution of helpdesk work orders per established operating level agreements.
Function as a 3rd level escalation resource for technical issues and troubleshooting.
Perform periodic audits of work orders as a measure of quality control.
Utilize ITIL framework for Change, Incident, and Problem Management for supporting the production environment.
Supervise hardware and software asset inventory, tracking, auditing, reconciliation, and documentation.
Oversee the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm and working environment.
Manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously.
Collect and review weekly status reports from assigned personnel.
Provide training and mentoring for assigned personnel.
Research and recommend hardware and software solutions.
Ensure adherence to all change control policies and procedures.
Assist with the Information Systems departmental budgeting process.
Comply with the Certified Fleet Operation requirements of the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in a network, computer, or management related field and extensive experience in an information technology-related field.
Prior experience in Lead Systems Administrator position or equivalent required.
Substantial prior work experience directly supporting servers connected to a Local Area Network.
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Valid Texas driver’s license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from Certified Fleet Operator status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.
Technical Skills:
Server+, Linux+, Network+, CCNA, CCNP, MCSA, MCSE and/or comparable industry standard certifications preferred.
Technical knowledge in the following areas:
Use of PC, telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.
Extended periods of sitting and concentration.
Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional long, irregular hours.
Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.
Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
