This position is responsible for providing accurate and timely processing of customer payments via phone, processing miscellaneous policy payments, processing field-issued and company checks that are voided or stopped for payment and returned item processing and tracking.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY
Pickup and sort payments and reports from various departments.
Process customer payments by phone.
Handle member payment/account questions as needed.
Process any miscellaneous policy payments (payments received from payroll, payments not received by 3rd party payment processor, etc.), including applying the payments to the correct policies and depositing the payment to the bank.
Process requests to void or place stop payments on Company issued checks and maintain files related to Company checks that have been voided or stopped for payment.
Maintain files related to Returned Items and provide information to members, in-house and county office personnel using verbal and written communication.
Provide written notification of a Returned Item when the policy is outside of the Laurus Billing system.
Send collection letters when a Return Item is not able to be processed in Laurus Billing due to policy cancellation.
Download transactions in the Returned Items process daily and complete bank reconciliations monthly.
Reverse unauthorized or duplicate payments as instructed.
Research bank credit and debit issues as assigned.
Perform backup duties in absence of coworkers or other duties as assigned.
Perform special assignments when requested.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Working knowledge of PC based computer software (Microsoft Office).
Good working knowledge and basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, preferred.
Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Strong organizational skills with ability to coordinate a number of tasks at the same time.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Use of P.C., telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.
Extended periods of sitting and concentration.
Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional long, irregular hours.
Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.
Work to be conducted in an office environment owned or leased by company.
