Job Responsibilities:

This position will work directly with Texas Farm Bureau Organization Division staff to assist in the planning, organization and execution of various agricultural programs, activities, and special projects. This position will work to implement and execute Agriculture in the Classroom (AITC) programming and other approved education programs and activities primarily in Houston and surrounding area with occasional work in other parts of the state.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

Primarily creates and executes AITC programming in Houston and the surrounding areas.

Performs key administrative tasks for Organization programs and activities.

Organizes components for teacher workshops and other AITC programs.

Travel to present lessons and other information to varying audiences of teachers and students.

Present lessons, other information, and professional development to varying audiences of teachers and students.

Responsible for bridging agriculture and education to increase agricultural literacy among students and teachers in general education courses (outside of traditional ag courses).

Develops and executes a plan for building relationships and working with teachers, school district contacts, and Education Service Center contacts.

Align resources and materials to TEA standards.

Assists Organization staff with major programs and projects during each peak season.

Assist in the development and design of educational resources for Ag in the Classroom.

Assist in preparing and presenting information about Texas Farm Bureau Educational Outreach, Youth Outreach and/or Leader Development programs, informational dialogues, and professional development opportunities.

Assists in the assembly/disassembly of Doorways to Ag exhibit and urban outreach program events.

Assists with and at times oversee registration and administration processes for conferences, teacher workshops, and other AITC programs, etc.

Comply with the Certified Fleet operator requirements of the Driving and Safety Policy.

Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Graduate of an accredited college or university with a four-year degree in an agriculture related field.

Experience or degree in education preferred.

Agricultural education background and experience helpful.

Ability to effectively interact with K-12 students, teachers, administrators, and the public to deliver desired messaging about TFB and AITC programming.

Ability to multitask.

Willing to travel as required and work weekends and after-hours.

Organized, flexible and detail oriented.

Strong verbal and written skills required.

Valid Texas driver’s license and a driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from the Certified Fleet Operator Status under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Use of PC, telephone, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment over six (6) hours per day.

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, lifting, reaching and moving items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to perform physical aspects of setting up displays, which could include climbing ladders and the ability to stand for long periods.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Travel required, including some weekends.

Occasional long, irregular hours.

Occasional time spent in hot, dusty and/or cold locations with operating machinery or livestock present.

Work to be conducted in an office environment owned or leased by the company.

At times, work will also be conducted in an educational setting outside of an office environment, to fully execute the scope of responsibilities.
