SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Behavioral Health Clinician III is an independently licensed clinical provider and an integral member of Sunshine Community Health Center's interdisciplinary care team. This position provides integrated behavioral health and specialty mental health services within SCHC's primary care medical home model.

The Behavioral Health Clinician III independently provides behavioral health screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, care coordination, and consultation for patients with a variety of mental health and substance use disorders. This clinician manages complex and high-acuity cases and works collaboratively with medical, psychiatric, behavioral health, and other care team members to support coordinated, patient-centered care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct behavioral health screenings and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments.
• Independently assess and diagnose mental health and substance use disorders using applicable diagnostic criteria.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and response to treatment.
• Provide evidence-based psychotherapy and brief behavioral health interventions within the clinician's scope of practice.
• Manage complex and high-acuity behavioral health cases using advanced independent clinical judgment.
• Conduct crisis and risk assessments, develop safety plans, and coordinate appropriate levels of care when needed.
• Collaborate closely with medical, psychiatric, behavioral health, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
• Coordinate referrals to internal and external behavioral health, specialty care, and community resources.
• Serve as a clinical resource to other members of the behavioral health and interdisciplinary care teams.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with regulatory, payer, and organizational requirements.
• Participate in peer review, quality improvement, risk management, and ongoing professional development activities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Master's degree in Social Work or a related behavioral health field required.
• Current unrestricted Alaska LCSW, LPC, or LMFT license required.
• Two or more years of experience serving individuals with behavioral health needs preferred.
• Experience collaborating with medical providers preferred.
• Experience in integrated behavioral health, primary care, school-based services, rural health, or community health settings preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic formulation, crisis intervention, risk management, documentation, and care coordination skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Valid State of Alaska driver's license required.
• Current BLS certification required.
