SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant at Sunshine Community Health Center, is a vital member of our medical team, playing a key role in providing equitable, timely, and evidence-based care. This position is responsible for offering direct clinical support to both the medical team and individuals seeking health services. Operating within the framework of a patient-centered home, the Medical Assistant adopts a team-based and trauma-sensitive approach to ensure the delivery of compassionate and effective healthcare services. The medical assistant participates in organizational- wide compliance quality standards. Our Medical department is dedicated to fostering continuous partnerships with communities, the broader healthcare team, and local organizations. At Sunshine Community Health Center, healthcare is administered with a commitment to continuity and comprehensive efforts to enhance the overall well-being of the individuals we serve.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Clinical Support: Provide direct clinical support to the medical team, including assistance with patient examinations, taking vital signs, and administering medications as directed.
  2. Patient-Centered Care: Embrace and implement a patient-centered home model, ensuring that care is delivered in a manner that respects the unique needs and preferences of each individual.
  3. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively within a team-based healthcare model, fostering effective communication and coordination with other members of the medical and support staff.
  4. Trauma-Sensitive Approach: Implement trauma-sensitive practices in all aspects of patient interaction and care delivery, creating a safe and supportive environment for individuals seeking health services.
  5. Partnership Building: Actively engage in continuous partnerships with communities, local healthcare organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance the accessibility and effectiveness of health services.
  6. Health Education: Assist in providing health education to patients and their families, empowering them to actively participate in their healthcare and make informed decisions.
  7. Administrative Duties: Perform administrative tasks, including maintaining accurate patient records, and supporting the efficient functioning of the healthcare facility.
  8. Participate in the SCHC Quality Assurance program.
  9. Maintain compliance with safety requirements.
  10. Maintain HIPPA compliance.
  11. Participate in improvement measures for: patient outcomes and satisfaction, clinical workflows, and work environment satisfaction.
  12. Other duties as reflected within the scope of practice based on credentials.
  13. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Graduation from high school or equivalent. Graduation from a medical assistant training program, (or equivalent schooling). Medical certification or licensure required. EMT II/III or Paramedic experience accepted towards qualifications. 

    Current (annual) TB screening. Hepatitis B immunization is recommended for all SCHC employee
