SUMMARY:

Sunshine Community Health Center (SCHC) is excited to announce an opening in our dental department for a general dentist. This position assesses and evaluates the oral health care needs of patients; performs selected diagnostic and therapeutic tasks; institutes and manages care for patients; and performs related work as assigned. Additionally, the dental team at SCHC has access to a multidisciplinary team of medical staff, behavioral health staff, patient advocates, and care management as support to provide whole person care for our patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Perform preventive, restorative, and emergency dental care as defined by SCHC’s scope of services.
  2. Provide direct clinical supervision of oral health staff.
  3. Practice, research and develop evidence-based oral health procedures, educational tools and methods to instruct and guide patients to optimal oral health.
  4. Ensure the establishment and participation in clinic-wide services such as Well-Child checks and Chronic Care Management as well as Community Outreach Programs.
  5. Accurately record existing, diagnosis, procedures, treatment plans, and referrals using an established format and appropriate CDT coding.
  6. Participation in quality assurance program development and implementation.
  7. Prescribing and administration of medications per Alaska BODE standard of care and SCHC’s policies.
  8. Adherence to the SCHC’s dental policies and procedures.
  9. Participation in community outreach and education efforts as necessary.
  10. Supports and participates in SCHC efforts to be a trauma informed organization.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of an accredited nationally recognized dental program/school. Possess an Alaska Dental license in good standing. Two years working in rural and /or underserved clinical environment preferred; however, new graduates are encouraged to apply. Current NPI # and DEA license required (or in application process). Current ACLS required. Additional emergency licensure recommended (PALS, ATLS, etc.)
