Performs a broad range of electrical trade functions involving the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment associated with the generation, distribution, and utilization of electrical power. This position is responsible for servicing and maintaining equipment including, but not limited to, generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, and other related transmission and distribution components.
The role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate installation and repair of electrical systems. The Electrician is also responsible for diagnosing electrical malfunctions, performing standard electrical calculations related to wiring and load requirements, and utilizing electrical testing and measuring instruments to verify system performance, functionality, and compliance with applicable safety and operational standards.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong record of performance, technical proficiency, and progressive experience as an Electrician. Qualified applicants must possess either a minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience as an Electrician, completion of a recognized two-year vocational electrical program or accredited apprenticeship program, or a combined total of six (6) years of progressive experience within the electrical field. A valid New Mexico Journeyman Electrician License and a valid driver’s license are required.
This position may involve cross-functional support in related operational areas as needed, and candidates must be available to work overtime, weekends, and flexible schedules to support organizational requirements. A valid state driver’s license is required, and employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a security investigation. The selected candidate must also meet all eligibility requirements to work at the White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) installation.
