POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Candidate for this position requires beginner to mid-level welding experience, with capability for Gas Tungsten Arc welding (TIG), Gas Metal Arc welding (MIG) and Shielded Metal Arc welding (Stick), who have fitter/assembly experience. Candidate must be able to weld and fabricate product from mechanical drawings, diagrams, and blueprints. The candidate must also follow OSHA safety. Welders are required to weld with precision while applying appropriate welding techniques on various metals.

Typical work assignments include welding metal components together to fabricate or repair structures, equipment, parts, etc., with or without use of layouts, blueprints, or specifications. Must have knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, welding of various metal properties, layout and welding procedures to produce required parts. Must have the ability to apply technical principles.

 

Key responsibilities for this position include, assemble and fit parts in accordance with or without blueprints. Set up workstation and manually weld Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW DC neg. /DC pos.), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW AC/DC), and or Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) per job instructions, where the ability to GMAW, GTAW, and SMAW is a requirement. Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions. Responsible for visual quality assurance checks on work. The ability to accurately read tape measure and use overhead crane, forklift, band saw, drill press, ironworker, plasma cutter, and torch.

Regularly adapt to a demanding and changing work environment, with competing demands, while following all safety procedures. Must be able to climb and may require work at heights.  Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds without assistance. Must be a team player, willing to perform tasks that may not be in a particular job description, take initiative when appropriate, and must be open to constructive criticism. With a positive attitude and willingness to work overtime when needed.

Required to have one (1) year progressive experience as a Welder and have graduated from a two (2)-year resident course at a technical institution or two (2) years progressive experience in the specific field. Must have demonstrated satisfactory skills and good performance as a Welder. Work will include cross-training and certification for other jobs on the contract and associated cross-utilization into these and other jobs as required.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

AWS D1.1 Cert, preferably in two (2) or more processes
