POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Manage/support technical projects associated with instrumentation development and mission support at White Sands Missile Range. Duties include research, design, develop, testing, and troubleshooting systems that support the Large Blast/ Thermal Simulator and the Aerial Cable Range. Requires integration of electronic, mechanical, thermodynamic, and computer software elements and communications interfaces to meet technical requirements associated with diverse engineering projects. The use of project management and systems engineering methodology. Manage/support technical projects associated with facility and equipment modernization, system development, sustainment, operations, and maintenance activities. Coordinate with trades personnel during project execution phases. The primary point of communication between customers and project teams, work through project phases tracking progress, status, and project funding. Phases may include requirement analysis,  risk assessment,  stakeholder management, procurement of materials & equipment, building and testing prototypes, system documentation including CAD drawings, system diagrams and Standard Operating Procedures. Assigned projects and work may be located at multiple locations throughout the White Sands Missile Range and remote locations. Work areas include but not limited to the South Range, White Sands Post Area, Holloman Air Force Base, and Stallion Range Center.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Strong education and experience track record in engineering or applied physics.  Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or Physics.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Experience programming in C/C++/C#, PLC Ladder Logic, technical drawing software such as the Autodesk suite of drawing tools.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Applicant selected will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Desired Qualifications: Strong engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer programming background. Five years experience in technical project management/support. Extensive knowledge of electronic design principles and digital image processing and analysis technique.  Hands-on experience with assembly, testing, and troubleshooting electronic/computer systems.  Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) Test and Evaluation programs and mission support activities.
