Job Description:

Certified Nurse Midwife works as part of a care team team that helps with all aspects of primary care for women of childbearing age and expectant mothers including diagnosis, treatments, consultations and referrals. This can be in both inpatient and outpatient situations and can be done independently or as part of a treatment team. This care includes primary care and gynecologic needs, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum period, and family planning.

  • Overall health evaluations
  • Prescribing medications
  • Determines educational needs of patients and families, providing relevant education and/or collaboration with health care team to ensure needs are addressed.
  • Develops, implements and evaluates plan of care in collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • STD testing and treatment
  • Prenatal examinations
  • Postnatal examinations
  • Education and training to deal with complications that may occur during pregnancy and delivery
  • Assesses patients on admission to the hospital or clinic including physical, emotional and psychosocial needs.
  • Labor and delivery when on call
  • Part of the on call rotation
  • Coordinates discharge plan and follow-up in collaboration with physician, giving the information and appropriate education to patient and family.
  • Education and preparation for new parents
  • Documents all care in a timely manner to ensure accurate patient record and billing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Master’s degree graduate from Accredited School of Nursing
  • Current RN license
  • Current APRN license
  • Graduate of a mid-wifery educational program approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives
  • Certified by the ACNM or eligible for certification
  • 2 years of Certified Nurse Midwife experience preferred
  • DNP is preferred
  • BLS
  • NRP upon hire
  • Three professional references, drug screening, health assessment, and background check
