Provides support to individuals and families within their home. Assists individuals with daily living skills, which include personal hygiene, meal preparation, light household chores and proper interaction with others. Services are exclusively intended for the care of the disabled individual not for family members or other individuals.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In Home Respite Provider I:
At least 18 years of age. The desire to work with person who have development disabilities. Must reside in the village where services are to be provided. Able to lift and carry enough to accomplish above duties. Able to work independently without supervision in the workplace. Hepatitis B and TB clearance required. Certification in CPR/First Aid within 6 months of hire. Ability to speak Inupiaq as well as English preferred.
In-Home Respite Provider II:
Requirements of In Home Respite Provider I plus: High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years work
Experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities. Training in Positive Behavioral Support systems, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention/Mandt techniques. Certification in State of Alaska Care Coordination may be substituted for 1 year of experience.
In-Home Respite Provider III:
Requirements of In Home Respite Provider II plus: Certification in State of Alaska Care Coordination and a minimum of 5 years work experience in the field of Developmental Disabilities. Certification in Disability services or related field may be substituted for Certification in State of Alaska Care Coordination and 2 years of experience.
