PURPOSE AND DESCRIPTION:

The Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) was founded in 1987 to pursue and promote the conservation, development, and use of Tribes’ agricultural resources. Since our founding, the IAC has been guided by our member Tribes, and we have worked diligently to advance Tribes’ agricultural priorities on the more than 56 million acres of land in the United States that are under Tribal jurisdiction. In addition to elevating Indian Country’s agricultural priorities among policymakers, IAC also provides on-the-ground technical assistance, domestic and international marketing support, natural resource management, small agribusiness development, youth programming, and more to Tribes and individual producers across the United States and within Indian Country.

The Program Coordinator is a professional, exempt-level role responsible for advancing IAC’s mission through the delivery, coordination, and supervision of Tribal agriculture and food system services across Indian Country. This position blends technical assistance with leadership, overseeing project teams, providing mentorship to early-career staff, and exercising independent judgment to ensure quality, consistency, and responsiveness in field operations.

The Internship Program Coordinator is a natural collaborator, mentor, advisor, and relationship builder, working with various IAC departments and partners to positively impact Native youth and young professionals and IAC Youth Programming. The coordinator will lead or co-lead initiatives that connect producers, Tribal governments, youth and young professionals with critical resources, guide field deliverables, and provide performance input on assigned team members. The role requires a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and decision-making authority in planning and executing fieldwork, coordinating program outcomes, and ensuring IAC’s standards of culturally grounded, producer-centered service delivery are upheld.
