About IAC The Intertribal Agriculture Council (IAC) was founded in 1987 to pursue and promote the conservation, development, and use of Tribes’ agricultural resources. Since our founding, the IAC has been guided by our member Tribes, and we have worked diligently to advance Tribes’ agricultural priorities on the more than 56 million acres of land in the United States that are under Tribal jurisdiction. In addition to elevating Indian Country’s agricultural priorities among policymakers, IAC also provides on-the-ground technical assistance, domestic and international marketing support, natural resource management, small agribusiness development, youth programming, and more to Tribes and individual producers across the United States and within Indian Country.
Job Summary IAC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Human Resource (HR) Assistant to work with the Chief People Officer and the Human Resources Manager to support Human Resources initiatives. The Human Resource Assistant will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. This person will assist with recruitment, onboarding, daily workflow, HRIS upkeep, and compliance to achieve business objectives and ensure a positive workplace culture.

Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
Assist with coordinating recruitment and onboarding.
Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
With guidance from the HR Manager, enter and update employee information in HRIS as needed.
Provide assistance to the CPO and HR Manager as needed. Including but not limited to calendar coordination, and travel arrangements.
Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, all staff meetings, Annual Conference, staff training events, and celebrations.
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and
recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
A minimum of two years of human resource experience is preferred. Prior experience administrative experience preferred.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
