Position Summary & Duties:

The Mechanical Engineer position is a direct-hire position working for HGA in our office in The Woodlands, TX. 

MECHANICAL ENGINEER POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of mechanical engineering for projects assigned in various industries with an emphasis on piping design. Responsible for preparing and reviewing calculations, design drawings, and other information. Directly involved with the Designer in the development of 3D graphic modeling work. Supports construction and procurement with preparation of drawings and specifications. 

MECHANICAL ENGINEER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
•Perform field investigations to determine existing conditions, possible equipment/piping layout, facility operations, and safety criteria.
•Provide estimates of engineering effort required for the jobs led and provide accurate manpower planning and tracking data during the project. 
•Conceptualize the design and give guidance to a team of Engineers and Designer / Draftsmen during design process. 
•Work with the Mechanical Design Lead to maintain project schedule by providing accurate and timely information. 
•Perform various design calculations, including, but not limited to: Hydraulic Calculations (Pump Sizing, Line Sizing, etc.), Stress Analysis, Wall Thickness Calculations & Piping Specifications, Equipment Sizing
•Generate equipment specifications and data sheets, prepare inquiry packages, complete technical/commercial bid evaluations, and review vendor drawings.  
•Participate in multi-discipline Design / Drafting package squad checks
•Responsible for the content and accuracy of the final design documents.

 



Qualifications:

MECHANICAL ENGINEER EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 
•B.S. of Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited university/college in Mechanical Engineering
•7+ years of experience in fields strongly related to design engineering and equipment specifications 
•Knowledge of engineering practices, codes, and standards 
•Experience with PFDs, P&IDs and Piping Codes is preferred.
•Experience in the Oil & Gas, Refinery, or Chemical Industry is preferred, RNG experience is a plus. 
•Experience in wood products, pulp and paper, and material handling is a plus.
•Candidates must not require sponsorship now or in the future. 

MECHANICAL ENGINEER CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS 
•Professional Engineering registration by examination is preferred; ability and willingness to pursue licensure is required.
