Job Responsibilities
As an expert Linux Administrator, the candidate will be working in a modern virtualized environment. Duties shall include but not limited to:
  • Patching and Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) of all machines, virtual & physical
  • Maintenance and deployment of Linux and Windows virtual machines
  • Utilize RedHat 6.7, Windows 10 (2008, 2012, 2016), and ESXI servers
  • Utilize tools like ACAS and SCAP
  • Loading and supporting required system software including STK, MatLab and Government Off The Shelf (GOTS)
  • Coordinate efforts with Network Engineering and Project Management personnel to resolve incident requests and engineering change work orders, Missile Defense Agency (MDA) event support
  • Maintain a smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators
  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products
  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware and software
  • Coordinate installation and provide backup recovery
  • Ability to occasionally work extended and/or off-nominal hours
  • Qualifications
    Requirements
  • Bachelor in related discipline and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience (acceptable alternative education/experience: Associate/12, Master/3)
  • Knowledge/Experience with the following:
  • Web server administration
  • Virtualization and managing virtual machines
  • Enterprise monitoring and management frameworks
  • Working in structured change management processes for highly available enterprise systems
  • VMware
  • Linx kernel and kernel modules
  • Information Technology security
  • Open source tools, monitoring systems, hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance with security updates
  • Installations/patching of operating systems, software installations, system backups, and data recovery
  • Ability to learn new technologies without supervision
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues without supervision
  • Working exposure to networked storage (SAN, NAS) concepts
  • Systems administration vendor certification

  • Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:
  • Knowledge of ACAS, SCAP, STK, and MatLab

  • Clearance:
  • Must be able to obtain, or already possess, a secret security clearance
