Job Responsibilities
As an expert Linux Administrator, the candidate will be working in a modern virtualized environment operations to include system architecture/design on the Joint National Integration Center Research & Development Contract (JRDC), part of the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Missile Defense Integration & Operations Center (MDIOC). He/She will be responsible for performing administration in a primary Linux RHEL 6 servers in a virtual environment using VMWare ESXI and vCenter server as well as various Windows platforms to include Windows 10 and Windows Server 2008. He/She will perform security patch management, Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG), as well as work with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) for reporting and verification utilizing tools like Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and Security Content Automation Protocols (SCAP). He/She will also maintain and configure an HBSS site on the policy Orchestrator server, running through daily battle-rhythm checks of systems in both a test and a production environment. The candidate will be responsible for loading and support the required system software including STK, MATLAB and other Government Off The Shelf (GOTS) software. He/She will maintain smooth operations of a multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators, interact with users and evaluate vendor products, make hardware and software purchase recommendations, coordinate installation, provide backup recovery, develop and monitor policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources, and ancillary duties which may include setting up administrator and service accounts and maintaining system documentation. He/She will be required to coordinate efforts with Network Engineering and Project Management personnel to resolve incident requests and engineering change work orders, MDA event support and other duties as assigned.
  • Master in related discipline and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience (acceptable alternative education/experience: Bachelor/15, Doctorate/4)
  • Experience in the following:
  • Designing physical servers, virtual servers, virtual environments or enterprise systems
  • Data center virtualization management
  • Installing, configuring or troubleshooting Linux servers, workstations, and peripheral configurations in a VMWare virtual environment
  • Developing, modifying or maintaining Active Directory (AD) structures
  • Creating procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance
  • Possess excellent multi-tasking skills in a high-demand environment
  • Possess the ability to articulate technical terms and concepts to non-technical people
  • Ability to be an excellent team member

  • Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:
  • Knowledge of ACAS, SCAP, STK, and MatLab

  • Must be able to obtain, or already possess a secret security clearance
