Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will ensure the integrity, reliability, and reproducibility of our internally and externally developed embedded software products for military systems from conception to release and have a hands-on role with the support of software for the U.S. Army's current and future ground combat and tactical vehicles, weapons and support systems; and will require involvement in all stages of the development cycle. Duties shall include:

  • Provide the necessary definition, development, and deployment of Tank Automotive Research, Development & Engineering Center's (TARDEC)  software quality assurance strategy, addressing all phases of embedded software/product development
  • Develops/executes quality assurance program plans
  • Establishes process and product quality control tolerance ranges for compliance and acceptability/qualification
  • Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
  • Reviews, verifies and validates software & process change requests and authenticates code implementations
  • Monitor every phase of the  software development process so as to ensure design quality, making sure that the software adheres to the standards set by the  agreement between the organization and customer
  • Maintains product consistency throughout product cycle, to include the design, define and build phases through quality checkpoints
  • Conduct functional & physical configuration audits for product acceptance/qualification/release
  • Ensure that software products work as intended prior to release to the customer. Develops and manages quality assurance metrics
  • Recommends and implements approved quality improvement processes
  • Oversees and provides final approval of product testing efforts
  • Participate in the entire software development lifecycle to include software design, writing source code, control of source code,  reviewing code, configuration management, change management, program testing, integration of software and release management  processes
  • Maintains quality assurance issue database and tracks items to closure
  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in software or computer engineering field or computer science with coursework-related to software engineering
  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal communication and project management skills
  • Experience with Linux and/or QNX

    Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:
  • Master of Software Engineering with related coursework in software quality assurance and release management
  • Experience with developing or modifying software quality assurance plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the  developmental or operational system
  • Experience with implementation and administration of software quality assurance metrics, such as defect profiles and performance to entry/exit  criteria
  • Experience with other embedded OS programs, preferably command line and not just GUI desktop usage
  • Experience with software industry best practices like Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) with at least level three (3) standards

    Clearance Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain or already possess a secret security clearance
