Job Responsibilities
The qualified candidate, as Systems Administrator, will provide support for the Modeling and Operations Software (MOS) Directorate Sensor Modeling Center (SMC) on the Joint National Integration Center Research & Development Contract (JRDC). The candidate will work closely with the SMC IT lead and hardware architect. He/She will be responsible for supporting and maintaining smooth operation of the Open Systems Architecture Sensor Models (OSM) and Open Systems Architecture Signal Injector (OSI) hardware infrastructure as well as the IT infrastructure that supports software development in a primarily RedHat Linux environment. As System Administrator, the candidate will also support performance analysis and kernel tuning as required, as well as performing essential deployment engineering tasks to include site surveys, installation, configuration management, documentation, commissioning, and upgrade/patch management. He/She will make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and supporting IT gear for the OSM and OSI platforms. The administrator will install, configure, and maintain services such as MySQL, IBM Rational Products, and developer tools to support the OSM and OSI products. He/She will also run Information Assurance (IA) security scans and aid in evaluating results.
*Associate in Information Technologies or related engineering discipline (acceptable alternative education/experience: High school  diploma with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience)
*In-depth knowledge of Linux operating system to include performance analysis and kernel tuning
*Knowledge of system level and integration level testing
*Experience with hardware/hardware configuration to include firmware upgrades
*Understanding of the Release & Deployment Management process specified by the Information Technology Infrastructure Library  (ITIL) process at the foundation level
*Shell scripting knowledge
*Cross-platform experience and the expertise to identify and resolve integration issues

Desired Competencies/Experience/Certifications:
*Knowledge and/or experience with one or more of the following
-Modeling and Simulation
-Installing and commissioning IT systems at customer sites
-Real time Linux kernels, tuning and performance analysis
-Graphics Processing Units (GPU)
-High-performance computing systems (rack mounts, blade servers, etc.)
-Red Hat Certification
-Capability for occasional CONUS travel

*Must be able to obtain, or already possess, a secret security clearance
