Job Responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer, the candidate will support the Threat Modeling Center (TMC) task order of the Joint National Integration Center Research & Development Contract (JRDC). The candidate will be responsible for maintaining smooth operations of the IT infrastructure that supports a dynamic, high capacity production and software development environment, primarily in a Red Hat Linux environment. He/She will maintain smooth operations of a multi-user computer system, coordinate work activities with network administrator, perform essential deployment engineering tasks include site surveys, installation, configuration management, documentation, commissioning, and upgrade/patch management. He/She will also make recommendations to purchase hardware, software and supporting IT gear for the production platform and provide backup and recovery, as well as, install, configure & maintain services such as customer off the shelf (COTS) products, production unique toold, and developer support tools. Occasional shift work and on-call hours will be required to assist with after-hours maintenance activities.


  • Bachelor in Computer Science or related field with a minimum of eight (8) years' of relevant experience (acceptable alternative education/experience: Associate/12, Master/3)
  • Security+ with continuing education
  • In-depth knowledge of the Linux operating system to include performance analysis and kernel tuning
  • Experience in virtualized environments with KVM and VMWare
  • Possess an understanding of the Release and Deployment Management process specified by the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process at the foundation level
  • Knowledge of shell scripting
  • Cross-platform experience
  • Expertise to identify and resolve integration issues

  • Desired Competencies/Experience/Certification:
  • Experience with shell scripting and Red Hat Linux operating systems
  • Familiarity or experience with coherent shared memory NUMA systems and topologies
  • Display flexibility and adaptability when faced with adversity

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a secret security clearance
