Job Responsibilities
As the Operations Research Analyst, the candidate will support the modeling and simulation of space-based infrared systems and ground-based processing in the Missile Defense Space Warning Tool (MDST). He/She will analyze real-world Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAG) events and simulation data and recommend software design and implementation changes. The candidate's main responsibilities include MDST simulation behavior in-depth analysis, writing analysis reports, providing constructive simulation design recommendations, interfacing with MDST customers & warfighters, and presenting technical briefings to MDST stakeholders.


  • Bachelor in Mathematics, Physics, Operations Research or Engineering and a minimum of either (8) years' of relevant experience (acceptable alternative education/experience: Associate/12, Master/3)
  • Possess a working knowledge of MATLAB and a strong understanding of both mathematics and physics
  • Possess strong written, verbal and presentation communication skills

  • Desired Proficiencies/Experience/Certifications:
  • Possess an understanding of object-oriented software development in a Linux environment
  • Experience with C++, Java, and/or Python programming languages
  • Possess knowledge of the current Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) system
  • Possess knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) exercises within a combatant commander's area of responsibility
  • Possess knowledge of tactical messaging, constructive modeling & simulation development, and analysis tools (e.g. STK)
