Job Responsibilities
Job Description: Responsible engineer for Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) survivability and environmental effects requirements. Supports the overall architecture design, synthesis, analysis, and trades process. Provides specialty engineering domain expertise in Survivability, Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) and Natural, Induced and Hostile Environmental Effects. Develops system requirements and identifies element allocations. Conducts engineering assessments of BMDS Elements/Components and candidate architectures. Develops project schedules for engineering product updates, and approval of design / requirements packages through the established engineering review / approval process. Monitors engineering tasks to remain on schedule and within scope. Coordinates trade studies and analyses performed by MDSET and coordinates the results with stakeholders; Identifies and tracks issues to resolution. Provides succinct yet comprehensive briefings to team and MDA management/leadership, as needed. This position is contingent upon funding and customer approval
Required Qualifications: The position requires a broad knowledge and understanding of natural and nuclear environment impacts on systems, subsystems and components. Shall have a strong Systems Engineering background in natural and nuclear environments. Shall be experienced with MIL-STDs 461, 464, 810 and ITU-R P.618, ITU-R P.531 and MIL-HDBK-310. System/specialty engineering experience on large scale integration program. Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities. Shall develop solutions to a wide range of complex system-of-systems technical problems that require ingenuity, innovation and collaboration with multiple stakeholders. Ability to develop, document, and maintain processes, methods, and tools. Ability to manage and understand multiple various tasks simultaneously. Desired Qualifications: Experience with BMDS, such as Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Theater High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), PATRIOT PAC-3, Aegis BMD, and X-Band radars. Experience with sensor and radar programs preferred. Experience with UFC 3-310-04 desired. Computer skills to include Microsoft Office. Experience with DOORS and System Architecture software. Education: Requires educational credentials meeting the classification standards for engineers and typically 20+ years experience in a system engineering classification with strong experience in natural and nuclear environments. Requires a degree in electrical, computer, aerospace or other applicable engineering field from an accredited university. Clearance: Top Secret Experience: 20+ Years
