FINANCE INTERNSHIP – ACCOUNTING, AUDIT AND BUDGET
The Finance Division is seeking motivated college students for a hands-on summer internship supporting accounting, audit preparation, budgeting, and capital asset management. This role offers practical experience in government finance and transparent stewardship of taxpayer funds.
What You’ll Do
Assist with external audit workpaper preparation
Conduct physical inventory of capital assets using WASP Inventory software
Support accounts payable, vendor payments, and provider reimbursements
Analyze budget variances and under-expenditures
Help with month-end close tasks, reconciliations, and journal entries
What You’ll Learn
Government accounting processes and internal controls
Fund and grant accounting
Capital asset tracking and compliance
Basics of contract management and audit risk planning
Real-world financial data analysis
At least one college Accounting or Finance course completed
Strong Excel and MS Office skills
Detail-oriented with solid analytical ability
Interest in public sector finance
