SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

FINANCE INTERNSHIP – ACCOUNTING, AUDIT AND BUDGET

 

The Finance Division is seeking motivated college students for a hands-on summer internship supporting accounting, audit preparation, budgeting, and capital asset management. This role offers practical experience in government finance and transparent stewardship of taxpayer funds.


What You’ll Do

  • Assist with external audit workpaper preparation

  • Conduct physical inventory of capital assets using WASP Inventory software

  • Support accounts payable, vendor payments, and provider reimbursements

  • Analyze budget variances and under-expenditures

  • Help with month-end close tasks, reconciliations, and journal entries

What You’ll Learn

  • Government accounting processes and internal controls

  • Fund and grant accounting

  • Capital asset tracking and compliance

  • Basics of contract management and audit risk planning

  • Real-world financial data analysis


Job Qualifications:
  • At least one college Accounting or Finance course completed

  • Strong Excel and MS Office skills

  • Detail-oriented with solid analytical ability

  • Interest in public sector finance
