Join Creare’s technology development team to assemble and refine complex, first-of-a-kind, mechanical and electromechanical components for high-performance aerospace applications. This role is ideal for a perfectionist with intense attention to detail, precision manual machining skills, and creative problem-solving capabilities. Typical assemblies include miniature gas-bearing turbomachines that require tolerances less than one ten-thousandth of an inch to operate at over 500,000 rpm. Applications include orbital spacecraft and planetary surface missions on Mars, Venus, Titan (one of Saturn’s moons), and Earth’s moon.
Responsibilities:
Assemble and inspect mechanical and electromechanical components using drawings and instructions.
Refine components and assemblies as needed using manual lathes, mills, and precision equipment.
Clean and deburr delicate, precision-machined parts under a microscope using miniature hand tools.
Work with engineers and technicians to conduct functional and performance tests to verify proper operation.
Troubleshoot assembly and operation issues, and collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve results.
Document assembly and testing results.
Maintain a clean, safe workspace.
Minimum 5+ years of manual machining experience or 5 years of vocational/apprenticeship training
Experience with high-precision machining and very small parts, ideally in aerospace or prototype environments.
Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
Excellent dexterity, accuracy, attention to detail; ability to work under a microscope.
Strong initiative, communication skills, and teamwork mindset.
Compensation range is $30 - $35 per hour, based on skills and experience.
