Description

Ensures a safe work environment.

Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material by crane or other lifting/hoisting devices at construction, drilling, onshore, or offshore work sites.

Checks and inspects slings, mooring ropes, lifting devices and equipment and materials associated with crane work for serviceability, safety and functionality

Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.

Possess the ability to analyze weather conditions and recognize hazards prior to the start of work.

Assists in the development and review of the Lift Plan with the Crane Operator.

Ability to attach pulley and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings, and gin pole booms with bolts and clamps. Attaches load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, slings, pallet bars and chains to crane hook. Sets up, braces and rigs hoisting equipment using handtools and power wrenches.

Gives direction to the crane operator while engaged in hoisting and moving loads to and from supply sources including boats, trucks, barges and from the ground in a manner that ensures the safety of workers, equipment and materials

Proficient in the use of hand signals and radios for communication

Performs STOP audits and observations

Informs supervisor of any incidents involving injury, spills, equipment malfunction and/or damage.

This position has no supervisory duties.

Education
High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
Experience
A minimum of four years of direct offshore/onshore rigging experience is required.

Oil field experience preferred.

Special Requirements/Certifications
NCCCO CERTIFICATION REQUIRED.

10 Hour OSHA Certification or CITS Certification is required.

A TWIC Card is required. 

 
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Level 5 Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machine for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet and stand for prolonged periods of time.

HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms. Must undergo initial baseline and annual hearing tests

VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.

LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 70 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 70 pounds for 20 feet.

RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using an inclinometer during the pre-hire/post offer FCE
