Ensures a safe work environment.

Repairs and maintains heavy duty & light duty construction equipment, including skid- steers, loaders, graders, backhoes, hydraulic and mechanical cranes, tractor/trailers, pickup trucks, generators, etc. by performing the following duties.

Assures industry, client, DOT, company policies and procedures are adhered too.

Assists the team to prioritize equipment needs, maintenance, and troubleshooting breakdowns.

Determine and institute the best maintenance business practices.

Educate and insure implementation of all Peak company policies.

Provide leadership, assist when needed, and support management in training and instituting the safety policies of the company.

Research and recommend training to best support the maintenance needs of Peak's fleet.

Research and recommend the best equipment to support Peak's business.

Informs supervisor of any incidents involving injury, spills, equipment malfunction and/or damage.

Ensures the fleet is in compliance with all DOT laws including maintenance records, and annual inspections. Maintains equipment DOT files for compliance and accuracy.

Other duties as assigned.


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, reports, and other documents; and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers. Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations with management and other employees in the organization.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or certificate from a mechanical technical school and five (5) years mechanic experience in an equipment dealership or industrial equipment maintenance shop; or equivalent combination of education and experience to be able to successfully complete the tasks of the position.

Experience supervising in a shop setting preferred.

Experience with DOT rules and regulations concerning maintenance records, annual inspections, and passing DOT roadside inspections.

Local hires strongly preferred. Our shop is located 3 miles west of Tioga, North Dakota.

Special Requirements/Certifications
A valid driver’s license required (CDL strongly preferred).
Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.

HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.

VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.

LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 70 pounds from floor to waist, 50 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 70 pounds for 20 feet.

RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
