Ensures a safe work environment.

Drives trucks, tractor trailers, etc. with capacity of more than 3 tons, to transport materials to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties.

Drives truck, tractor-trailer, etc. to destination. Loads and unloads truck when necessary.

Prepares and verifies load against shipping papers.

Maintains truck log according to company, state and federal regulations.

DOT 70 hour reset required weekly.

Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions.

Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water, before and after trip segments.

Informs supervisor of any incidents involving equipment malfunction and/or damage.

Performs emergency roadside minor repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs and tire chains.

Informs supervisor of any incidents involving injury, spills, equipment malfunction and/or damage.

In some cases this job may have supervisory responsibilities.

Other duties as assigned.


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to prepare a detailed time sheet/log of daily work assigning proper coding for invoicing purposes.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Truck driving certificate from college or technical school and two (2) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provide the necessary skills to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Oil field experience preferred.

Arctic experience is preferred.

Special Requirements/Certifications
A valid current commercial driver’s license (CDL – Class A) with the appropriate endorsements is required. Endorsements may include hazardous materials, bus, tankers, etc.

Current DOT Medical Card.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to severe outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts - and when/if transporting fuel, etc. - some fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee’s ability to perform to the job standard. MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machine for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.

HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms.

VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man.

LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 30 pounds from wait level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.

RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using an inclinometer during the pre-hire/post offer FCE.
