Description

Computer Systems Support Specialist III duties include:

-Assesses and troubleshoot computer support problems and applies understanding of computer software and hardware products and services to resolve problems of users.
-Properly diagnose problems and guide users through problem resolution.\
-Set up, image or repair computer equipment and related devices. 
-Train users to utilize new computer hardware or software, including printing, installation, 
word processing, and email.
-Respond to phone, web, fax and email requests for assistance using remote tools and automated trouble ticketing system.
-Make site visits to provide touch labor.
-Provide account management.
-Installs approved software within regular business hours.
-Prepare software using provided software package utility for deployment.
-Electronically "push" software, software updates, security updates, vendor patches(service packs, service releases), etc. to end user devices.
-Update 100% of affected available devices in accordance with the timelines established within the request.
-Assist users in identifying service requirements and developing appropriate technical specifications that are consistent with user needs.
-Provide advice on automating functions, integrating requirements with existing capabilities, communication requirements, control and administration of systems, types of information management systems, operating systems, equipment, and infrastructure compatibility.
-Provide users with recommendations on approved equipment and software.
-Provide configuration of end user and network devices to include computers, printers, laptops, scanners, PDAs, and other hardware.
-Install new computers per the customer’s Life Cycle Replacement Policy
-Provide Local Touch Labor Services to include installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and software updates, security updates, vendor patches (service packs, service releases), etc., when electronic application means do not exist.

Major Responsibilities:
-Perform all Help Desk tasks as directed by contractor Program Manager.
-Provide IT advice and assistance to customers. * Troubleshoot basic connectivity and user account problems. 
-Provide support in a manner that minimizes interruptions in customers’ ability to carry out critical business activities. 
-Add, delete, manage, and review user accounts, access, and logins IAW local policies. Upon U.S. Government (USG) personnel approval, remove inactive accounts as needed. 
-Remove or disable all default, guest, and service accounts in information system or network devices and rename administrative accounts as applicable per local network policy and U.S. Government COR (Contracting Officer’s Representative) guidance. 
-Attend Information Management Officer Classes or meetings when required by the local supporting Signal Command. * Maintain updated patches on desktop personal computers (PCs). 
-Install and maintain Microsoft Office Suite, command specific applications software and hardware on PCs as required. 
-Install new hardware products, peripherals and equipment; VTC hardware/printers/laptops/servers. 
-Control current versions and future releases of applications and operating system software per CENTCOM guidance. 
-Ensure current anti-virus (AV) engines and definitions on all Information Systems (IS) are current, and report discrepancies to the supporting Signal Command and/or update as directed by local network policy. 
-Monitor Information System (IS) performance to ensure that recovery processes, security features, and procedures are properly restored after an IS has been rebooted. * Monitor IS performance to ensure that processes, security features, and integrity of the operating system is not altered. * Work closely with the customer to ensure seamless implementation. 
-Resolve hardware installation problems. 
-Identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities and risks. Report all major security issues to the COR or brigade/battalion S6. 
-Prepare and establishes network access protocols to enable end users to gain local access. 
-Where requested, provide VTC Support at the customer facility to schedule classified and unclassified VTCs, maintain VTC schedules, maintain and configure video teleconferencing equipment, and interface with the customer and distant-end organizations to ensure seamless VTC operations at the customer’s premise.


Education
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred or 10 years previous closely-related experience preferred
MUST POSSESS AN ACTIVE AND VALID GOVERNMENTAL SECURITY CLEARANCE.
IAT level 1 certificate IAW DoD 8570.01-M
Experience
Must be highly skilled in at least one of the following: UNIX system administration and security; Oracle database design, maintenance, and administration; Applications programming utilizing SQL; Design and deployment of dynamic web pages; Development of user applications; Electronic forms development, maintenance, and support. Seven years experience server administration and programming. Must have excellent communications skills, and be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. Must maintain professional interpersonal skills, demeanor, and appearance. Must be experienced in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Special Requirements/Certifications
-Employee candidates, with the exception of completely qualified incumbent employees, will be required to attend pre and post-deployment preparatory training though CRC (CONUS Replacement Center, Ft. Bliss, Texas).
-Employee candidates must possess a current United States Passport valid for at least six months past the end of deployment. 
-Employee candidates must be in good physical and psychological condition. Employee candidates will be required to pass a pre-deployment physical and have the appropriate United States vaccinations relevant to the country of their deployment. 
-Employee candidates should be prepared to bear the cost of the pre-deployment physical as well as any other expenses related to vaccinations, prescription supplies, additional corrective lenses, other non-prescription medications, any other medical needs necessary for at least six months of sustained deployment. 
-Employee candidates should clearly understand that some of the worksites, within this contracted effort, are located in countries and regions where armed conflict or unstable environments are an ongoing concern. Employees will be expected to exercise significant care in protecting themselves during the term of deployment. 
-Work visa rules for each country covered within this contracted effort vary by country. Employee candidates should be aware that in some countries, additional physicals and other requirements must be met in order to qualify for a work visa for that particular country. Once the employee has been deployed, VDT will be responsible for the cost of any subsequent physicals or other country-specific costs as they relate to country-specific work visas. 
-Employees will be expected to respect and abide by the cultural norms and regulations of each host country. Employees will also be expected to strictly comply with all behavioral, cultural, safety, and security constraints of military bases where they will be working. Violation of country-specific or base-specific customs, rules, and regulations could result in immediate termination and subsequent demobilization, legal charges, and costs associated with any violations.
