Administration and Configuration

  • Maintain network operations and ensure that inquiries and problems concerning networks, computers, peripherals and services are expeditiously resolved.
  • Restore Network Service upon receipt of the work order request and availability of materials as follows:
    • Minor Outage: (Defined as a building outage that affects ten (10) or fewer people) repaired within three (3) working days
    • Major Outage: (Defined as a building outage that affects ten to thirty (10-30) people) repaired within two (2) working days
    • Critical Outage: (Defined as a building outage that affects a whole building or area of thirty (30) or more people) repaired within one (1) working day.


  • Ensure all new network equipment installation is coordinated with the Information Assurance Manager (IAM) and SSD Chief, prior to installation, for inclusion into the Department of Defense Risk Management Framework (RMF) Certification and Authorization Process and CR (Change Request) process.
  • Actions are completed within four (4) working days upon receipt of work request or whenever the assigned due date for the task is. Install network software and equipment and change the components of existing equipment.

Troubleshooting and Maintenance

  • Maintain network operations and ensure that inquiries and problems concerning networks, computers, peripherals and services are expeditiously resolved.
  • Maintain procedures for networks, systems operations, data base management and product assembly and installation.
  • Develop and execute procedures to periodically monitor the logical/physical integrity of data.
  • Prepare testing and implementation plans. Establish test criteria and data to ensure all program modules and outputs for assigned project are tested for completeness.

Reporting and Monitoring

  • Monitor operation of the network and ensures that hardware and software are functioning properly and that operation standards are met.
  • Monitor network using available tools for network availability and identification of abnormalities to the network during normal duty hours and report to COR within ten (10) minutes of discovery of abnormality during normal duty hours. After letting the COR and KO know about the problem the technician must open a remedy ticket immediately after.
  • Analyze present networks and systems to ensure proper utilization.
  • Study and analyze assigned installation equipment and software reliability and utilization reports to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Participate in system acceptability testing and implementation. Meet frequently with other programmers and functional area specialists to coordinate work and resolve problems.
  • Provide advice and guidance on technical aspects of networks and ADP equipment. Note trends in the type and frequency of errors. Recommend changes needed to ensure optimum effectiveness. Suggest technically feasible approaches and make recommendations regarding the most effective and efficient automation approaches. Perform feasibility studies in order to develop or modify information systems to meet user network and/or telecommunications requirements.
  • Provide technical advice to users.
  • Examine and analyze alternative means of satisfying user requirements.
  • Develop documentation, which includes required information such as functional descriptions, maintenance manuals, test and implementation plans, market research, cost analysis, specification data collection, scheduling production and product distribution procedures.
Bachelor's Degree in IT Network Administration
2 to 5 years of experience in related field
Special Requirements/Certifications
Certified Network Administrator Security (CCNA Sec) certification
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry at least 30 pounds
