Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY: Sets up, configures, and supports internal and/ or external networks. Develops and maintains all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. Troubleshoots network performance issues and creates and maintains a disaster recovery plan. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job. Incumbent may perform one or more of the following duties.) a. The incumbent must be able to make independent judgment and sound decisions when providing networks systems collaboration and guidance to users. b. The incumbent must be able to exercise a high degree of discretion when evaluating ASD and/or its client’s operating systems, firewalls, security, and networks infrastructure. c. The incumbent must be able to understand LAN/WAN concepts, infrastructure, and protocols. d. The incumbent must be able to demonstrate a wide degree of creativity and latitude as expected. e. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. f. Manages all upgrades and backups. g. Researches and implements security strategies. h. Develops network and host security policies. i. Manages remote client dial-in access. j. Monitors network traffic and makes necessary recommendations for additional resources or hardware. k. Manages set up and maintenance of servers. l. Meets with engineering groups to allocate server resources and installs new servers. m. Provides comprehensive solutions for managing workstations, file servers, printers, bridges, routers, etc. n. Performs day-to-day monitoring of system activities, analysis of system utilization and resources, capacity control, performance tuning, etc. o. Supports, monitors, tests and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to computer networks. SUPERVISION/FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: a. Supervisory Responsibility – None b. Supervision Received – Reports directly to the senior-level Systems/Network Administrator or Project/Program Manager. Works under limited supervision, within defined objectives, with latitude for interpreting specific task and time requirements and for selecting the approved methodology to be used for achieving expected results. c. Required Qualifications:
Required Skills: - B.S. degree in related field plus five to seven years of demonstrated experience in systems analysis or programming. Relevant and equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirement. - MCSE or MCSA Certification required; Experience administering a MS/Unix network environment, with specific experience with Windows 2000 server and MS Exchange. Must have excellent oral, written, and analytical communication skills. -Level of Security Clearance (if applicable): Secret [minimum]
