Job Responsibilities:

The Teacher Assistant is responsible to assist the Head Start Center/Combo Manager with all aspects of the classroom.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum current Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) required. Prefer Early Childhood work experience. Current First Aid/CPR certification or willing to obtain. Must complete a minimum of 3 Early Childhood credits every 3 years. Background study required. High School graduate or GED and minimum 18 years of age. Regularly lifts 50 lbs., and occasionally more, and are able to kneel, bend, stoop, and sit on floor to attend to the children’s needs.

Needed Attributes:  Awareness of, sensitivity to, and ability to work effectively with young children and families from a variety of social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing. Computer/technology skills. Ability to work independently and as a team member.

Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety of all children following Head Start Health/Safety and Standard Code of Conduct policies and procedures
  • Assists with implementation of the designated Head Start curriculum & School Readiness goals
  • Assists in classroom organization, preparation, and clean-up
  • Participates in weekly site team staffing and planning meetings
  • Substitutes in Center/Combo Managers absence
  • Assists in specific record keeping and form completion
  • Assists Center/Combo Manager as assigned with CACFP documentation, purchasing, meal prep & cleanup
  • Assists with data collection, reporting, and analyzing child outcomes as mandated by federal, state, and local regulations
  • Supports the Parent, Family, and Community Engagement goals and activities
  • Assists children in a bus aide capacity on scheduled program transportation routes when assigned
  • Participates in all program training and selected individualized professional development
  • Assists children with toileting and diapering needs
  • Is a Mandated Reporter

Substitute Teacher Assistant 2 needed in a head start classroom in Hibbing, MN. This position runs through May 31st, 2024. Starting Wage: $19.89/hr. This is a temporary position. Position open until filled. AA/EOE
