Physician: Family Medicine (In/Outpatient) - Full-time, Aurora

The family medicine physician provides health assessment and direct care to patients as part of the provider team providing services to VNA Health Center patients in the clinic and hospital setting.

Primary Functions:
  1. Provides primary care using generally accepted standards of practice. The physician develops a plan of care for each patient, including complete history, physical examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and /or referral, used all available resources in an appropriate and cost efficient manner.
  2. Hospitalizes as needed any patient requiring in-patient care. Provides primary care during the hospitalization. A physician without active or courtesy hospital staff credentialing and privileging will require the authorization of the Medical Director.
  3. Participates in hospital rounding and on call coverage. 
  4. Confers with consulting physicians, midlevel providers, nurses, support staff, patients, and families concerning treatment and care of patients. Makes appropriate specialty and sub-specialty referrals, but maintains responsibility, assuring continuing of care.
  5. Participates in health promotion/disease prevention activities. Stresses the importance of preventive health care measures.
  6. Supports mid-level providers in supervision and consultation.
  7. Participates in quality improvement/assurance activities.

    1. Unencumbered license to practice medicine in Illinois as an MD/DO.
    2. Qualified in Basic Life Support.
    3. Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified.


Essential Functions/Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
2. Tactile, visual, auditory and olfactory senses intact.
3. Manual dexterity and strength sufficient to perform medical procedures.
4. Ability to drive a car.
5. Ability to deal effectively with levels of stress.
